George Kohler – the Norfolk based sweep who pedalled around the world with his son – has been shortlisted for a national award.
George, 57, who returned home to a hero’s welcome last May after more than a year on the road, is a contender, along with his son Josh, for the Just Giving Awards 2026 in the Social For Good category.
George and Josh cycled more than 18,000 miles across 30 countries and four continents, setting three Guinness World Records along the way, including becoming the first father‑and‑son team to cycle around the world.
The challenge tested them physically and mentally, requiring immense resilience, determination and perseverance as they navigated unfamiliar terrain, extreme conditions and life on the road.
Alongside their record‑breaking achievement, they raised vital funds for UNICEF UK and Norwich‑based social enterprise Bicycle Links.
Announcing their success at being shortlisted, Just Giving commented: “Their adventure inspired hundreds of thousands of people to pursue their own goals, embrace new challenges and believe that extraordinary things are possible.
“Together, George and Josh turned an ambitious dream into an unforgettable achievement with a lasting impact.”
