These chimney courses are ideal for both new and experienced sweeps/installers who are committed to continued professional development (CPD). These courses are aimed at professional chimney sweeps and installers of all levels who wish to expand their knowledge and undertake CPD.
Mr Soot Training Centre is proud to host this course, which is delivered by experienced chimney sweep Josh Firkins. Josh is a sixth generation sweep from London’s oldest chimney sweeping company, which can trace its origins back to 1860.
Course Duration: One day per course (three in total) across April, May and July. Dates below.

Thursday April 18th: Thatch & Historic Properties (One Day)
Course content includes:
- Typical chimney construction and design
- Regional variations
- Regulations relating to thatch and historic properties
- Common faults with certain designs
Wednesday May 8th: Rotary Sweeping & Commercial (One Day)
Course content includes:
- Pros and cons of various rotary sweeping equipment
- Comparisons with different sweeping methods
- Rotary techniques
- Ways to approach commercial sweeping jobs
- Typical commercial installations
- Flue designs and appliances
Thursday July 4th: CCTV & Integrity Testing (One Day)
Course content includes:
- CCTV Inspections
- Smoke Testing
- Chimney Integrity/Pressure Testing
- Reporting Any Findings
- Common Issues To Look Out For
